Lets welcome new year with some sparkle in Sawley
Is it a bird, or a plane?
No - it's Superman - who will be collecting voluntary donations for the Alzheimer's Society.
The New Years Eve Family Fireworks Display is a free event - organised by Sawley Parish Council.
No private fireworks, or sparklers allowed at the event.
Entrance to Sawley Park will be by Draycott Road near Co-op, or at Wilmot Street, near school.

Call for help
A group of residents, Mess Collectors & Parish Councillors will be getting together this Saturday at 10.30am for an hour to carry out a litter pick and setting out the poppy display around the Sawley Memorial.

Sawley will remember them
Details of this years Remembrance Sunday have been announced by Sawley Parish Council
The Act of Remembrance will take place at 11am on Sunday, 10th November at the memorial on Tamworth Road.
For safety reasons Tamworth Road will be closed to traffic at 10.40am until 11.20am between the junctions of Draycott Road and and Wilne Road. Short diversions will be in place.

Co-option Opportunity to join the Parish Council
A vacancy for co-option of a new Councillor to join Sawley Parish Council has arisen.
This co-option will be on the normal Parish Council agenda for its meeting on Tuesday, 24th September 2024.
It's hoped that those who wish to be considered for co-option should be residents of Sawley, or have a close connection with Sawley.

Pride Month
Sawley to fly the Pride Flag from Saturday, 8th June. Sawley Pay Tribute
Sawley respected the 80th Anniversary of the D D Landings on Thursday 6th June with a service at the Memorial Hall.
The Rector of All Saints conducted the service and around 50 residents attended, along with the Deputy Mayor of Erewash and Parish Councillors.

Community DDay Commemoration
Details of the Community DDay Commemoration at Sawley on Thursday 6th June. The event will start at 19:30, for approx half an hour.
The commemoration will take place at the Community Centre on Draycott Road, rather than the War memorial for safety reasons.
